We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lt. Fred Bowens, who dedicated over thirty years of his life to the Detroit Police Department. Lt. Bowens was a remarkable officer who exemplified dedication, courage, and professionalism throughout his life as an integral member of the DPD.

In his long and distinguished career, Lt. Bowens served in a variety of roles within the DPD, earning respect and admiration from his superiors and colleagues alike. He played a pivotal role in countless investigations and operations, always putting the safety of the public first. His memory will live on as an inspiration to all those who knew him.
